Love and War

She loved him, ever part of her, for longer than she could remember. The times were changing and the drums of war has started to beat. On a moonlit night she laid her head on his chest, wanting to say "Stay" and afraid of saying "Goodbye" -- knowing such words were futile which ever one she uttered.

So she gave him the jewel she made with her own hands, and the red string of fate she hoped will keep him alive and reunite them. Hope and love was all she had now against his will and her silence, it was the only strength she could depend on when he was gone.

His sword hilt was pressed to her hip, and she breathed him in. Wishing, how she wished, that his innocence will remain forever; how this moment of closeness between them would last forever... But all she could do was close her eyes against the tears, let his innocent kiss scortch the skin of her cheek and wish with all of her heart that he would return to her...

If only...

...if only all was fair in love and war.
